My Name Is Andrea is an innovative feature documentary written & directed by Pratibha Parmar & produced by Shaheen Haq. The film is inspired by the life and writings of feminist writer & campaigner Andrea Dworkin (1946-2005) one of the most influential & controversial feminists’ of the 20th century.

Andrea Dworkin used her personal experiences of sexual assault to write powerful, compelling books. Her eventful life story is of a woman coming to speech despite the relentless attempts to silence and misrepresent her. John Berger, writer of Ways of Seeing said, “Andrea Dworkin was perhaps the most misrepresented writer and activist in the Western world.”
Interweaving impressionistic dramatizations with actors, layered with documentary archival footage, interviews with friends and critical feminist/cultural commentators, the film uses Andrea Dworkin’s compelling writings to create a powerful emotional narrative.

What We Need
We invite and welcome donations of any amount. Each contribution is precious. We know from our previous crowd funding campaign on Beauty In Truth, no amount is too small. Every $25, $30, $50,$100, $500, $1000 adds up and helps us get nearer to our goal. We offer many perks along the way including tickets to the film premier, on set visits as well as an on screen credit. Donations of $250 or above are tax deductible via our U.S. fiscal sponsors Women Make Movies. Donations of $10K and above qualify for an Associate Producer credit.

Making independent films with social, political impact continues to be a challeng especially for women filmmakers of color. Women are still a very small minority in the film industry as has been proven time and time again. We truly believe and have experienced that it is the vibrant & diverse communities’ of women and other allies who get us started.
